Security for our Airport & Residential Community

Gates & Fencing

For those of you who are new to this website. A word about our airport and residential security gate system !
 Scroll down for info

Airport Investors  improved the security of your airport several years ago now, and we continue with programs and procedures to make our operations safer. The events of Sept 11th, the crash of a stolen private aircraft into a building in Tampa, and the continuous incursions of our own runway by cars, golf carts, pedestrians,  etc. required that the airport property be more secure. Insurance companies  required increased security to maintain a reasonable premium rate.  The FDLE kas tentatively  provided mandatory guidelines for increased security. Rather than wait, Airport Investors has done it already, before having to  face the increased risks of problems that lay ahead.

There are two cantilevered radio controlled gates installed. One on the SW end of the runway on Cessna Dr., and one on  the NE end. There is chain link fencing along the uprotected side of the runway and a sliding gate controlled by a "keypad" on Airway Blvd for access to the
hangars and airport proper. Everybody who has a right to access will be provided with the code. These security measures have
been paid for in their entirety by Airport Investors.

In addition, Airport Investors granted permission to the residents of Hidden Lake East to construct a privacy/security gate at the front entrance to the community of Hidden Lake East on Kitty Hawk Dr. While this did not directly effect security of the airport proper, it  enhanced security for aircraft based in the community and keep out anybody who should not have access to the streets/taxiways.

If you have any questions or wish clarification on these issues; please drop us an E-mail

Airport and Runway Access

Both of the runway gates are controlled by your aircraft radio receiver just like the runway lighting. The gate at the entrance to the hangars/airport proper,  is controlled by a keypad. The runway gate frequencies should be obtained from whomever you are visiting.

The procedure for opening them is as follows: One long click (2 seconds or more, to alert the gate receiver) followed by 3 short clicks which will open the gate.
(Do not pause between clicks !!)

Everyone who needs access to the Airport  proper via Airway Blvd. has received the keypad code to access the Airport/Hangar area.  Should there be need for change, you will be advised on this page .

Hidden Lake East Entry Gate

If you think that you have a special need or question please send an e-mail to us by clicking on the e-mail icon below. ALL of your questions will be answered or explained to you.

Everyone who is a resident has received the entry puchpad code. Those who have not paid and wish to obtain clickers must  pay their share and clickers will cost an additioal $35.00 each.

How the Main Entrance Gate at Kitty Hawk works !

Residents

Each participating resident has received two "clickers" which are similar to garage door openers. These are not ordinary clickers. They are programmed by special code for each resident. You must "click" to open the gate for entrance. After passing through the gate a sensor in the roadway will automagically close the gate behind you. Only the entrance portion of the gate will open. When leaving the community, another
sensor will automagically open the departure side of the gate. This is in operation 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Suppose you are not in possesion of your "clicker".  In addition, each resident has been supplied with a unique "punchpad code" - See below.

For Guests Visitors, and Trades people:

In addition to the "clickers" there is a special terminal at the entry just before the gate. The visitor, guest, or occasional tradesman/service personnel will be presented with a menu at the terminal where they can look up the resident by name or address. and then select it. This will dial the resident's home telephone number (unseen by them)where they will announce themselves. To grant entry, "punch in" a "9" on the telephone keypad to open the gate if they are permitted access to access the community.

For residents who are not in possession of their clicker, they will simply punch in their unique code at the terminal and access will be granted. For the regular known tradespeople such as lawn and pool maintenance, mail, newspaper, UPS, etc., each has received special unique codes. They however, will be limited by times of entry. E.G. the UPS person and lawn/pool people will not be admitted during the middle of the night.
Of course emergency personnel such as police, fire, ambulance will have access at all times.

For our residents of Hidden Lake East we are providing the names of the Gate Committee. They ask that this be used for emergency purposes only, and that normal communication be done with us at the e-mail address.  The Committee is strictly voluntary and will be permanent to
keep the gate up to date and maintained. If you would like to volunteer for this committee please e-mail us.
